Maissouille, the renowned French artist of the Hard industry, and Mighty Spiritz, a DJ from the French city of Lyon have developed a partnership. The fruit of their collaboration, I Need A Rave, soared to the first place of Hardcore Inc. weekly Top 5. Both artists have crossed their respective universe in order to present a track both astonishing and ground-breaking. They have opened up about the intricacies of this title.
Where it all began
After signing his first album “Armageddon” with Hardcore France Records, Mighty Spiritz and Maissouille met for the first time at a club called the Warehouse (Nantes), during one of the event Hardcore France Invasion, organized at the beginning of the year by the label. “When we were there, we had a chat and we thought why not create a multi-style track one of these days”, Mighty Spiritz relates.
However, the story of the track does not stop there. Actually, the health situation is neither the best moment to host events nor to meet different people of the party scene and the event industry overall. “We were quite bored with this whole pandemic situation”, Maissouille corroborates. The title I Need A Rave is thus a result of current events and shares the sense of deprivation, of artists who miss their public who cannot gather.
Significant lyrics
MC Wild Fox, also present at the Warehouse that night, gave his pen and his voice for the lyrics. They are a testament to the determination of some artists striving to survive the current situation, and their need to reconnect with the public. The 3-men collaboration was an obvious choice as he is a longstanding musical partner of Mighty Spiritz and in addition, Maissouille defines him as one of the best French MC saying “[he is] especially keen on his voice and his professionalism”.
An explosive track
The idea to create a hybrid title, half Rawstyle, half Frenchcore, seemed only natural for both composers. “We created our kicks, our screeches and everything before combining it all together to get to the final result, which we couldn’t be more proud of. We had a blast with this track!” they confess. In I Need A Rave, we find the distinctive Extra-Raw kicks from Mighty Spiritz, and then, the further we go on into the track, the pace picks up speed to move on to the Frenchore/Hardcore part, in which we can recognize Maissouille’s own inimitable style.
Last word
With I Need A Rave, the three artists pulled off the challenge to intertwine two totally different universe, Xtra-Raw and Frenchcore. Admittedly, a risky bet, though skillfully carried out which made it possible to break the standard codes of Hard Music by presenting an innovative, refreshing and unexpected composition, especially in times when a high BPM rate is common practice. By reaching the 67th place of Hardstyle.com Top 100, I Need A Rave hits like a bomb the Hard Music scene by taking French style to the next level, allowing it to compete and match usual Dutch style.
